A poem for the start of college - another year of the Respiratory Therapy program begins!

Summer seems so fleeting.
The leaves are just starting to change color.
The excitement is teeming,
with students impatient to discover.
Classrooms are filling with the sounds of laughter, lectures, and typing.
Minds are swimming with new ideas, challenges, and writing.
The cafeteria shows community and clusters of new friends.
Bonds are being built while students grow and extend.
In respiratory therapy, our alarms are staccato and our wheezing inhales.
If the rhythm is off, the equipment may fail.
A patient's distress, a code, or a fall,
we focus our teaching on breathing, and respond to the call.
Forgive the poor verses and the lack of good art,
our duty is to be a healer, not to write a poem that's smart!
We Are Back! Welcome to our Seniors - and our new Junior cohort!
